Spring Cleaning: Essential Tip!
It’s been a cold, dark winter, and the melting, re-freezing, sleet, and snow of this week finally broke those who were in denial all along, who said things like “What snow? I don't see any snow.”
Dad used to say that sometimes, even though you keep going, it hits you. “Hey, I suddenly realized that even if I wasn't admitting it, it was in there, working on my head.” Whenever he felt like that, he usually immersed himself in a project, like painting, whether changing the color of a room or using oils on a canvas, he enjoyed making a change. But on one particular occasion, he un-painted.
For as far back as I remember in our youth, on the wall overlooking our kitchen table hung a reproduction of a man and woman in a field, heads bowed, I rightly called The Praying Farmers, "The Angeles."
After Mom passed, Dad, then retired, sought a project, so he went up to Bohack and decided he’d try Soilax, a cleansing powder that was mixed with water in a bucket. Enthused by it's effectiveness, he used it to wash down all the kitchen walls and cabinets, and, with a light touch, he also hit up the praying farmers and sat the frame on the picnic table in the backyard to dry. The next time he looked outside, the farmers were gone, so was their field; and all that remained was a white framed canvas, illustrating the incredible cleaning power of Soilax! So, yeah, do a little spot testing.
I love remembering these stories.
The five-day forecast for next week looks like a tropical heatwave--temperatures climbing into the late 30s and even early 40s, so there will be plenty of gratitude, the opening of windows and, I'm sure, the start of spring cleaning. And Lent upon us, don't forget the spiritual inferences of the Soilax.
